ClickaSkip intends to use the most practical, pragmatic and productive methods of sorting and separation in order to maximise the resource potential of our collected waste streams. This extra effort diverts a huge amount of waste from landfill.

Our charming and friendly drivers will pick up your skip and bring it back to one of our fully licensed Material Recovery Facilities, where we weight it and then tip it out for assessment based on the types of waste.

After being tipped out, the waste goes through both a mechanical and manual separation process. The tracked excavators pull out certain items, as do our trained operators. Large pieces of wood, metal, furniture, and foliage are the first to be separated.

The remaining waste is loaded into a hopper, from which it travels up a conveyor belt and into a huge revolving drum. This drum has various holes built into it to sieve out different sized pieces of stone, sand, soil, and the like.

Waste continues along another conveyor belt, with a large fan blowing light material into a chute which will take it to be compacted. More of the remaining waste is collected by hand before it passes under an electromagnet to remove small pieces of ferrous metal. By this point, very little remains, often just small pieces of brick, rubble, stone or concrete.

The waste, previously mixed up in the collected skip, is now neatly separated and ready to go on a variety of recycling journeys. Some materials will be remade into new versions of themselves, some will become part of consumer products, others will be crushed into aggregate and used for an interesting array of construction purposes.

Recycling can also reduce green-house emissions from plastic production and can even help to support the economy by maximising the value of waste products.

Glass
We take the collected glass, wash it, then crush it into cullet (a powder form), which can then be used for different recycled aggregates, such as ‘Eco-Sand’, useful for laying paving blocks and concrete slabs. This is a sustainable way of reusing glass waste.
Brick & Concrete
Brick and concrete are crushed and transformed into new aggregate products that can be easily reused by construction companies, or other industries that need quality building materials.
Soil
Clean soils including clay and chalk are used in the remediation of large areas of land, such as the construction or remodelling of golf courses.
Paper
Water is mixed with waste paper (and cardboard too) to create a pulp. Any ink, glues, or things like staples are screened and removed. After some cleaning, this pulp can be turned into new types of paper, like newspaper, or recycled cardboard packaging.
Wood
Wood is separated into different grades based on quality. High-quality wood can be reused for many quality purposes or to make very desirable chipboard, whereas the low-quality wood might end up as low-value chipboard.
Metal
Collected metal waste gets shredded, with rubber, wood or plastics being removed. The shredded metal gets melted at a very high temperature with impurities removed. It is then poured into moulds that are easy to transport to facilities that can reuse them for production.
Garden
Garden waste is often recycled into a nutrient-rich soil conditioner that can be applied to agriculture, land reclamation, or as part of multipurpose compost. Most green waste can be recycled naturally.
