If you haven’t done so before, hiring a skip can be overwhelming.

Frequently Asked Questions
The average size skip you will usually see is 6 cubic yards otherwise known as “standard builder’s skip”.
In accordance with environmental legislation fridges, freezers, asbestos, T.V.s, CRT monitors and tyres cannot be placed in, or beside the skip. If you do need to dispose of any of the listed items, this can be arranged at an additional cost, you do have this option to add these items when placing your order.
Clearance of paint, solvents, liquids, asbestos or dustbin and food refuse are prohibited, you will need to contact your local authority to dispose of these.
If you do have plasterboard/gypsum to dispose of, please contact us first as there are specific guidelines for disposing of this waste. Although a minimal amount will normally be accepted of approximately 2 small bin bags full, this waste must at all times must be kept separate from all other waste streams, be it by use of a bin bags. (Charges May Apply).
Skips must be level-loaded within the sides of the container at all times for safety reasons and that all waste remains in the skip whilst in transit. Skip sides or ends must NOT be extended with boards or doors to increase the containers capacity.
The skip hire duration can vary; the average skip hire period duration allowed in the initial price is 14 days. If a longer duration is required this can be arranged with our team but sometimes (not always) additional hire costs may be incurred. On the flip side, if you fill your skip within 14 days of the initial delivery then we can collect the skip earlier if required at no extra cost.
Once the skip is full and you require an exchange or a collection please notify us and we will spring into action!
All bookings are to be made via the ClickaSkip website; please do not try to place any orders with the skip lorry driver.

You can book your delivery or exchange (swapping a full skip for an empty one) up to 23 days in advance where you can select an AM or PM time slot.
The minimum amount of notice required for a new delivery or exchange is 1 working day.
When you have finished with your skip please give us a minimum of two working days’ notice to come and pick it up.
Skips can be placed on private property such as your driveway or business premises, offices or factory units.
Please be advised, if you don’t have this available and you need to place the skip on a public road, you will need to acquire a Skip Permit Licence from your local council authority.
The Licence can be applied for by yourself, or we can do this for you, but this can take up to two weeks before you receive this and a permit can last anywhere between 14-30 days, this is all dependent on your local authority requirements.
Lighting is dependent on your local council requirements, it could be your responsibility to ensure that the skip is suitably lit in accordance with the guidelines set out in the skip permit licence.
If this is not done correctly, fines can be incurred from the council.
Yes, at all times, when placing a skip on public property or roads, you will need to obtain a skip permit licence from your local council before having the skip placed. There is fee that will be applicable for this and the fee does vary from one local authority to the other.
The on road skip licence can be arranged for you or you may need to do this yourself, this is dependant on your Local Authority.
